The biggest change in the audi a3 facelift is its new petrol engine. The motor is shared with the new Audi A4 and is a smaller, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit (earlier 1.8-litre). The smaller displacement has resulted in a loss of power as it makes 150PS of power , but the peak torque remains the same at 250Nm. This generation of the A3 sedan is not expected to arrive in North America until late 2021, as a 2022 model.North America will not get the Sportback e-Tron like before. In the countries that will receive The PHEV A3 will no longer be called The e-tron because this name is reserved for electric Audi cars. The former dispatches a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 7.8 sec, while the latter is based on the Golf GTE and is a second quicker to 60 mph (97 km/h).

The current car’s interior has been criticized for feeling plasticky and not premium enough for a luxury car, but it seems unlikely that will be addressed within the same generation. There are no rumours of the A3 going full hybrid or electric at the moment. And this being a facelift, changes under the skin is expected to be minimal. But word on the street is that, the updated A3 will receive a high-riding version similar to the A1 Allstreet.

Audi revealed information about the facelifted A3 sedan along with the mid-life refresh to the entire A3 model line-up in April 2016. Went on sale in its homeland of Germany a month later, the third-generation A3 sedan received new outlook, new engines and safety systems alongside interior revisions. The A3 range is available in four-door sedan, two-door cabrio, three-door hatchback and five-door sportback configurations in overseas markets. The entry level diesel engine is a 1.6-litre TDI that develops 109 BHP.

After the release of 4th generation of Audi A3; the model of RS 3 LMS TCR is also changed, and it will firstly start to race in 2021 WTCR season. It also gets the new MMI infotainment system, with a 10.25 or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a secondary screen of 10.1-inches. This generation of the A3 sportback is arriving in Thailand this November 2021, as a 2022 model. Like the previous generation, the new S3 also comes as a saloon/sedan. Audi claims performance of 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h). It is expected to get approximately 40 miles per US gallon (5.9 L/100 km; 48 mpg‑imp).

Over smooth or undulating roads, the car feels planted and small bumps or potholes are brushed off with ease. It can even go through broken patches at decent speeds and neither the front nor the rear passengers will have any complaints. What you do get, though, is a new three-spoke steering wheel that feels great to grip and looks like the same unit you get in the Audi R8! It is adjustable for both rake and reach, and finding a good driving position is easy. The 2.0 TDI engine was included in the engines found by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to use software intentionally designed to turn off emission control systems except when undergoing emission testing. Audi A3 TDI Clubsport quattro is a concept car unveiled in 2008.

The diesel variant continues with a 2.0L TDI turbodiesel engine producing 143 hp and 320 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed DSG. Inside, the design is similar to the outgoing car, but gains new elements and feature upgrade for a contemporary look. It has a new leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, TT-inspired HVAC vents, new MMI infotainment system with a display that can be retracted and Milano leather upholstery. The top-end Technology grade comes equipped with reverse parking camera, Audi Phone Box, GPS-guided navigation, and auto dimming ORVMs. The car will be available in 3-door hatchback, Sportback, sedan and cabriolet body styles. Deliveries are scheduled to commence during summer in the European market.
